The Kung Fu Master

Some years ago the comedian Bill Maher made a bit about how a leaked picture got a young female politician into trouble. The photo was taken during her college years and included her and her future husband at a Christmas party. Her boyfriend wore a Rudolph the reindeer face mask which she held on to with a firm grip. They looked happy, and perhaps even a bit tipsy! The problem with the image was that her political opponents successfully made the case that she was insinuating the act of fellatio on poor Rudolph's nose. She quickly drew the only logical conclusions a woman can draw in a similar situation. She was damaged goods, she gave up her political career and as far as I know, was never heard of again. Contrary to Trump she lacked the basic skills of political Kung Fu.

During the Republican primary debate on August 6th, 2015. Trump was asked by a female moderator: "You call women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals…" Any other politician would have been doomed. But not Trump. He read the room correctly and knew based on the barely audible laughter that there was no need to be remorseful. “Only Rosie O'Donnell!” he called out interrupting the moderator with a smirk, the audience exploded into laughter and applause. Trump reaffirmed the well-known fact: lies often pay off. Doubling down by once again attacking Rosie O´Donnell was a brilliant political move. Their feud has been going on for over a decade. She is an overweight, unattractive, liberal lesbian from "Hollywood." She embodies what the Trump supporters love to hate.

As Trump thanked the audience for their support and appreciation, the moderator desperately pointed out that there were more victims. Trump nonchalantly admitted to his lie. But it was like Maradona admitting to using his hand to score that fantastic goal in the World cup final in 1986. The damage caused to the opponent had already been done. Trump won the debate, and to many, it was the turning point in the Republican primaries.

Megan Kelly was the moderator in question that day, and she was right when she said there were more victims. Soon she would be one of them. Megan Kelley is a stunningly beautiful and successful woman, a former lawyer, and was at the time a cornerstone in the FOX News machinery. In 2014, the Time magazine put her on the list as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. That night she met her match. Trump was on his way to becoming President of the United States. Megan Kelly’s career, on the other hand, was more or less over within a few years. Some felt that the order of events was a bit unfair. Others realised that Trump methods in becoming President was part of God´s plan and should not be questioned. It would be like explaining quantum physics to an ant: a waste of time.

Ironically, In March 2019 The New Yorker reported that Roger Ailes, the former CEO of FOX News, might have tipped off Trump concerning this specific topic. Question is; did Ailes give the heads-up to Trump because he, and the owner of FOX Rupert Murdoch, wanted Trump to become President? Or, because he wanted to make Megan Kelly look bad for playing hard to get when he sexually harassed her, as she later alleged in her book? Maybe both?

Aikido is a martial art form that uses techniques to redirect the opponent's attack. It is smooth and gracious, beautiful to watch, like a dance of martial art with as little violence as possible. The word Aikido can be translated into: "way of harmonious spirit." Trump does not do Aikido. Trump is instead highly trained in political Kung Fu: he stands his ground, doubles down, distracts his opponent with a counter tweet or a juvenile insult, he then absorbs the attack with his belly fat and later plays the victim card in front of his supporters. No one masters this kind of Kung Fu like Donald Trump. What is even more fascinating is how his opponents time after time strikes with a slightly different stick but always with the same swing. Wasn´t it Einstein who said something about insanity and using the same method over and over again and expecting a different result?

According to Trump, Obama warned him that North Korea would be the most dangerous threat that the then President-elect would have to deal with. Fortunately for the world, the Chosen-One took the warning seriously and dealt with the danger like no one else could. Trump calmy claimed that with Hillary Clinton as president the USA would have ended up in a nightmarish nuclear war with North Korea. But due to the outcome of the 2016 election, there was a chance for peace.

Trump´s and Kim´s first historical meeting was an impressive success. The most remarkable accomplishment was how Trump managed to change the discourse of Fox News. Some years earlier it had been considered treason to even suggest any negotiations with the crazy, attention seeking dictator. During Trumps administration, it was suddenly a masterful chess move comparable to Nixon's opening of China in 1972. In addition to the leaders falling in love, the rocket launching exercises and the nuclear testing stopped. The world could go to bed without the fear of waking up to the sound of detonating atomic warheads.

The second meeting was also a triumph but in a different way. Trump finally got a second chance to represent his country in Vietnam after being stopped by a too eager bone spur specialist back in 1968. According to the national security adviser, John R. Bolton, Trump proved his negotiating skills and strength by walking away from a lousy deal and therefore putting more pressure on Kim and showing the doubters that he is not a President who desperately goes after a bad deal just to win cheap political points.

But the true mastery in Trump´s Kung Fu is how he blamed the Democrats and Michal Cohen for the walk out. Anyone who knows anything about the author of the bestseller “the art of the deal” understands that Trump is not the kind of man that would let himself get distracted by the Cohen hearings. It would be foolish to believe that it was a coincident that the Cohen show took place in the middle of Trump ´s and Kim´s second date. The Democrats played a dangerous political game, Trump called them out.

The white house quickly declared Cohen to be a pathological liar and an entirely unreliable witness. Cohen himself said he was a fool, Kellyanne Conway said what is self-evident to millions of Americans: "why should anyone listen to a disgraced felon"? Trump could once again show his supporters how the Democrats will do anything to attack him even if it risks the negotiations of the clear and present danger of nuclear war.

The Republicans and FOX news are experts in pointing out the unwritten rules concerning the presidency. One of the more basic rules is not to attack the President when he is overseas. This rule is especially holy when the President is on a mission from God to save the world! Another less known fact is that these rules do not apply if the President happens to be black, Muslim, Kenyan, or all of the above.

The Democrats are desperately trying to find new sticks to swing at the President and at the same time preparing for their internal slugfest to find a leader who can challenge him in 2020. The MAGA people just got another reason why they should, at all costs, protect their president who is constantly being attacked by the Socialist forces within the Democratic party. Trump is the only one who can save the United States from being annexed by North Korea. They are already lining up in front of the ballot boxes to honor the ultimate Kung Fu master.
